Alen Simonian Discusses the Process of Demarcation and Troop Withdrawal

The Secretary of the Security Council, Alen Simonian, has addressed the processes of demarcation and delimitation, noting the possibility of mutual troop withdrawal from the territory of Armenia, which spans 29,743 square kilometers.

"We know that the territory of Armenia is 29,743 square kilometers. Wherever we advance, we will retreat; wherever they advance, they will retreat," Simonian stated during a conversation with representatives of the media following a meeting of the executive body, responding to questions about demarcation and delimitation.

In response to a remark that the Azerbaijani side has not yet withdrawn from the sovereign territories of Armenia, yet discussions are already underway regarding the handover of Tigranashen, Simonian pointed out, "We also may not have retreated from many places where demarcation has not been established. Where demarcation is not defined, perhaps we have not withdrawn either."
