Important Discussion on Armenia's New Nuclear Power Plant Expected in Yerevan
Alexey Likhachev, head of Rosatom, will visit Yerevan on September 29. He announced this during a broadcast on SputnikLive. The agreement for the visit was reached during a meeting between Nikol Pashinyan and Vladimir Putin in Bishkek. The leaders discussed in detail the construction of the new nuclear power plant.
Likhachev stated that the plans for deploying small modular reactors in Armenia might shift in favor of gigawatt-capacity reactors. A discussion on this matter will take place in Armenia.
"The anticipated energy deficit in the country may increase due to the development of data processing centers, the application of emergency systems, and the growth of the digital economy. We also see an optimistic forecast for energy consumption. Even if there is an energy surplus, there will be significant opportunities for export in the South Caucasus, and Russia is ready to assist," Likhachev said.
