I Have Talked About Kyarki, Not Tigranashen: Pashinyan

In response to a journalist's observation that the handover of Tigranashen would be justified since the majority of residents in Tigranashen and Paruir Sevak community voted for him in the elections, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that he spoke about Kyarki, not Tigranashen. He noted that the issue of enclaves was also addressed during the electoral campaign and that there was nothing new about it.

“We stated that the territory of the Republic of Armenia is 29,743 square kilometers, and Kyarki and other enclaves have never been included in that calculation. Instead, Arzvashen has always been and continues to be included in that calculation. People live in Arzvashen too—does that mean Arzvashen is not part of Armenia? In any case, there is no agreement on this matter, and the most important nuance is that I expect a calming of nerves on this issue, so that it will also be clear in the external world that there is no nerve regarding this matter, and this issue will be resolved in the best possible way,” he said.

Pashinyan emphasized that when discussing this issue, he is not acting against the interests of Armenia but in accordance with them. “I consider the issue partially resolved, because I don’t know how journalists and the opposition perceive it, but the public in Armenia has accepted my message, and there are no more nerves regarding this issue,” he concluded.
