NATO is Drawing Armenia and Azerbaijan Towards It: Zakharova
NATO continues its policy of drawing the countries of the South Caucasus into its sphere of influence. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She commented on the military exercises that began on April 28 in Georgia under NATO's auspices, which also involve Armenia and Azerbaijan as partner countries.
Zakharova also noted that through such formats of cooperation, NATO imposes its standards and ideology, contributes to the restructuring of the defense sector, and seeks to establish control over the development of the armed forces of these states.
“No one should have illusions. Any action by the alliance in the South Caucasus is not aimed at strengthening security, but at creating instability and a zone of geopolitical tension,” she said.
Zakharova added that the main goal of the alliance is to utilize the potential of the countries in the region for the collective interests of the West, particularly in the context of geopolitical confrontation with Russia.
