Azerbaijan Files Lawsuit Against Armenia at The Hague

Azerbaijan has filed a principal lawsuit against Armenia at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague regarding the "violations of Azerbaijan's sovereign rights over energy resources by Armenia." This was stated in a press release from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"This lawsuit is the latest development in the international proceedings that began on February 27, 2023, when Azerbaijan sent a notification to Armenia about the arbitration. The arbitration was opened on September 8, 2023. The first procedural hearing between Azerbaijan and Armenia took place on January 12, 2024. During the thirty years of illegal occupation of internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan, Armenia obstructed Azerbaijan's access to and development of its energy resources in those territories. In contrast, Armenia has utilized these resources for its own interests," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's statement noted.
