Economy Minister Discusses Issues Related to Armenian Brandy
The Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, stated that the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and the head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision of the Russian Federation have not raised any issues regarding Armenian brandy. This was mentioned during a meeting of the permanent committee on regional and Eurasian integration issues of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, responding to reports in Russian media claiming that 90% of Armenian brandy sold in Russian stores is unsafe.
“I had a phone conversation with the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and the head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision of the Russian Federation. During those conversations, we discussed various issues, but our Russian counterparts did not mention anything concerning brandy spirit. I was not informed of any problems,” emphasized Papoyan.
“What should be exported from Armenia is real brandy and brandy spirit. This plays a very important role on my agenda. I will do everything possible to ensure that the spirits leaving Armenia are made exclusively from grape raw materials. This is a matter of the Armenian brand and Armenian brandy,” Papoyan added.
