Opposition Figure Karapet Poghosyan to Be Released from Armavir Prison on August 7
Opposition figure and former human rights defender Karapet Poghosyan, who was arrested and imprisoned in connection with vote-buying allegations during election day, will be released from the Armavir penitentiary on August 7. The Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia, presided over by Judge Tigran Davtyan, has completely rejected the request from the Anti-Corruption Committee's investigator to extend Poghosyan's detention.
Poghosyan's lawyer, Slavik Poghosyan, stated that he will be released after the expiration of the initial detention period on August 7 at 10:40 AM. Earlier, family members had reported that the court had acquitted Karapet Poghosyan.
(Official details about the case will be published later.)
