Sister of Hamas Leader Arrested in Israel
Israeli law enforcement has arrested the sister of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Palestinian Hamas movement's political bureau. This was reported by Kan television and radio company.
The arrested woman, 57-year-old Sabah Abd al-Salam Haniyeh, resides in Israel and is suspected of having links to Hamas. Kan reports that the two sisters of the political bureau leader are Israeli citizens and live in Tel Sheva with their children.
The Israeli police have announced a raid in Tel Sheva during which a relative of a Hamas leader was arrested, but they did not disclose her name. She is suspected of maintaining contacts with Hamas and of "identifying herself with the organization as well as inciting and supporting terrorist activities in Israel." During the searches, security forces found documents, phone numbers, and other evidence that "link her to serious crimes against Israel's security."
