Powerful Eruption on the Sun
A powerful eruption was recorded on the high-level M class of the Sun during the night of March 9. This information was reported by TASS, citing the Applied Geophysics Institute.
According to the institute's Helio-Geophysical Service, an eruption was registered in the X-ray range lasting 13 minutes. Monitoring of space weather indicated that the impact of solar flares on the Earth’s ionosphere in the last 24 hours was at the lowest level R1 on a five-point scale, where R1 signifies a weak effect and R5 an extreme one.
Scientists clarified that solar flares are classified into five categories—A, B, C, M, and X—depending on the strength of the X-ray radiation. Eruptions are often accompanied by solar plasma ejections, which can cause magnetic storms when they reach Earth.
