I Will Run as a Candidate for Prime Minister: Marutyan
Former Mayor of Yerevan and head of the Yerevan City Council's 'National Progress' faction, Hayk Marutyan, intends to participate in the parliamentary elections scheduled for 2026. He made this statement during a conversation with journalists after leaving the City Council session.
Marutyan announced that he would run for the position of Prime Minister from a new party that will be established in the near future. “Our supporters demand that we must have our own party; the process is underway, and we will soon announce it. Our party will necessarily participate in all crucial political processes in Armenia. We are definitely preparing for the 2026 parliamentary elections, unless there are snap elections. I will be the head of the party and will run as a candidate for Prime Minister,” he stated.
It is noteworthy that today, with a vote of 34 in favor and 0 against, the Yerevan City Council stripped Hayk Marutyan of his mandate.
