Possible Meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani Speakers of Parliament Discussed by Alen Simonian's Office
The Armenian side considers a meeting between the speakers of the Armenian and Azerbaijani parliaments possible in March in Switzerland. This was stated by Alen Simonian's office in response to a request from Sputnik Armenia.
In early February, Martin Chungong, the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), announced that a meeting between the heads of the parliaments of Armenia and Azerbaijan is planned within the framework of the upcoming IPU assembly in March.
Simoniln's office stated that they have not yet received a specific proposal regarding the anticipated meeting scheduled for March 23-27. However, they do not rule out the possibility of such a meeting. "This format of meeting is open for discussion for us," said the press service.
They noted that a definite decision and response could be provided only in the presence of additional information.
It is noteworthy that at the end of January, Chungong visited Armenia, where he met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonian, and other officials.
