U.S. State Department Statement on Today's POW Exchange Between Armenia and Azerbaijan
The United States welcomes the exchange of soldiers that took place today between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
This was stated during a press briefing by Matthew Miller, the spokesperson for the U.S. State Department. “We encourage this move and have been in discussions with both governments. We welcome the return of the Armenians and Azerbaijanis who were detained earlier today, as well as reports that additional measures to build trust between the parties are being discussed. We will continue to work with Armenia and Azerbaijan to advance the process. We continue to believe that peace is achievable if both sides are willing to strive for it,” the spokesperson noted.
