Azerbaijan to Free 32 Armenian Soldiers, Armenia to Release 2 Azerbaijani Soldiers: Details
The Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan have released a joint statement, which states the following:
Both the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan agree that there is a historical opportunity to achieve the long-awaited peace in the region. The two states reaffirm their intention to regulate relations based on respect for the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity and to reach a peace treaty.
As a result of negotiations between the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, an agreement has been reached to take tangible steps towards building trust between the two states.
Guided by humanitarian values and as a gesture of goodwill, the Republic of Azerbaijan will release 32 Armenian soldiers. In turn, the Republic of Armenia, also guided by humanitarian values and as a gesture of goodwill, will release 2 Azerbaijani soldiers.
