VIDEO: 'The citizens you mentioned are citizens of the Republic of Armenia' - Zakharova on Former Artsakh Presidents and Ruben Vardanyan

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented today during a press briefing on the arrests of former presidents of Nagorno-Karabakh and other individuals. Responding to the question of whether Moscow is doing anything to secure their release, Zakharova stated that inquiries regarding this topic should be directed to the Armenian Foreign Ministry.

"The citizens you mentioned are citizens of the Republic of Armenia. One of them has renounced his Russian citizenship. Some have had only Armenian citizenship from the beginning. We have not received any official or unofficial requests directed to us," Zakharova said.

It is noteworthy that Azerbaijani border guards have arrested former Artsakh Prime Minister and philanthropist Ruben Vardanyan, former Defense Army commander Levon Mnatsakanyan, former deputy commander of the Defense Army Davit Manukyan, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh Davit Babayan, Chairman of the Artsakh National Assembly Davit Ishkhanyan, and former presidents of Artsakh Arkadi Ghukasian, Bako Sahakyan, and Araik Harutyunyan.
