Ukraine Criticizes Western Actions Regarding Tribunal and Seizure of Russian Assets
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has announced a 'deadlock' regarding the creation of a tribunal against Russia by Western partners and noted a 'lack of will' to seize Russian assets, as reported by AFP.
According to the head of Ukraine's Foreign Ministry, the West advocates for the establishment of a 'mixed tribunal' based on Ukrainian legislation against Russia. However, Kyiv believes that this will not allow for the stripping of immunity from Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, or Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Kuleba stated that this option is unacceptable for Kyiv.
Regarding the seizure of Russian assets in favor of Ukraine, the minister mentioned that there is a clear lack of will on this issue.
It is important to recall that since 2022, Ukraine has been discussing with allies the idea of creating an international tribunal and seeks to investigate Russia's actions during the armed conflict. The Kremlin has refused to recognize such a tribunal as legitimate. Instead, Russian senator Konstantin Kosachev reported that Russian senators are preparing proposals to create an international tribunal concerning Ukraine.
