Former MP Aleksan Petrosyan, his wife and son summoned by Prosecutor's Office over illegal property confiscation case
The former member of parliament, known as "Mapi Alik," Aleksan Petrosyan, along with his wife and son, Makary Petrosyan, have been summoned by the Department of Illegal Property Confiscation at the Prosecutor General's Office to familiarize themselves with the investigations related to their properties, as reported by Hetq.
Aleksan Petrosyan is accused of assisting former Minister of Environment Aram Harutyunyan in money laundering. The Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction acquitted him; however, the prosecutor has appealed the verdict, and the case is currently under review at the appellate criminal court.
The criminal case was initiated in 2015, but Aleksan Petrosyan's procedural status was established after the regime change in 2019.
It is important to note that Aleksan Petrosyan served as an MP from 2003 to 2007 on the proportional list of the Law-Based State Party, then from 2007 to 2012 on the proportional list of the Republican Party, and in 2012 he was elected from the Armavir constituency in a majoritarian capacity.
