Russia's Position Remains Unchanged: Putin on the Unblocking of Roads and the Lachin Corridor
Azerbaijan recognizes Armenia's complete sovereignty over the territory through which transport routes will pass without any alternatives. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a bilateral meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Moscow.
Putin emphasized that Russia's position on the unblocking of transport routes, including possible construction of both railway and automobile roads, remains unchanged. 'It should be noted that the Azerbaijani side also confirms that there are no changes in this regard. They recognize Armenia's complete sovereignty without any alternatives. Any double or triple interpretations related to the possible unblocking of transport communications have no basis,' he stated.
Putin assured that Russia's position has not changed regarding the Lachin Corridor as well. 'You know that in discussions with both our Armenian friends and Azerbaijan, we have always held this position and we still do. Everything should correspond to the letter and spirit of our trilateral statement,' said the Russian president.
