Levon Ter-Petrosyan: 'The Audacity of Power Has No Bounds'
RA’s first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan has commented on the imprisonment of a soldier’s mother.
“The worrying situation of the imprisonment of a mother who lost her son in the battlefield is a greater disgrace than the offensive act of the disgraced president of the National Assembly spitting in a citizen's face in broad daylight in downtown Yerevan. These two incidents show that the audacity of power no longer has limits. It seems that the easing of the internal political tensions in Armenia should primarily be a responsibility and concern of the authorities, but as we see, it is they who inflame that tension even more with their audacious and short-sighted actions. If this continues, our country is awaiting a much sadder and potentially explosive future. While noting this, I also find it necessary to state that the unacceptable behavior towards family members of representatives of the authorities is also inappropriate,” says the first president's commentary.
