Registration Required Up to a Year in Advance for Trips to Bali: Plans of the Provincial Governor Revealed
The Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, is proposing to gradually halt mass tourism on the island over the next 100 years. This information was reported by Indonesia's national ANTARA news agency.
Koster is set to present this idea during the seminar titled 'The Future Development Plan for Bali: The New 100 Years of Bali,' which will be attended by many leading political figures in Indonesia, including several ministers and high-ranking officials, as well as a former president.
'The absence of mass tourism and the introduction of a quota system for tourists is our future for the next 100 years. We will limit the number of tourists by implementing a quota system. Foreigners must register for their planned visit to Bali a year in advance and wait their turn to enter,' Koster stated.
According to him, this measure is prompted by the disrespectful behavior of tourists towards the island's culture and violations of Indonesian laws. A final decision on these restrictions has not yet been made. It is noteworthy that since January 2023, 101 tourists have been deported from the island, most of whom were Russians.
