Weather Conditions Deteriorate at the Upper Lars Checkpoint: Announcement
The Upper Lars checkpoint and the Khaachi mountain pass are closed to trucks due to worsening weather conditions. This information was announced by the customs attaché of the Armenian Embassy in Russia, Vahan Hakobyan.
“The Upper Lars checkpoint and the Khaachi mountain pass are closed to trucks due to deteriorating weather conditions,” he said.
The military road is the only land route connecting Armenia with Russia. It is frequently closed due to bad weather.
Georgia is constructing a new road bypassing the most dangerous section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars highway (Gudauri-Kobi). This involves the construction of a nine-kilometer tunnel.
