I Know Beglar Barseghyan: Witness Confuses Name of ‘Flash’ Barsegh

A hearing has started moments ago at the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction located in the 4th district of New Nork concerning the case of former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan. Sargsyan is accused of organizing the embezzlement of nearly half a billion drams from the state budget.

Sargsyan denies the charges, with his lawyers asserting that there is political persecution against the former president. The other defendants in the case, including Barsegh Beglaryan, owner of ‘Flash’ company, and former head of the Ministry of Agriculture’s Plant Growing Division, Gevorg Harutyunyan, also deny the accusations.

According to the Special Investigation Service, in 2013, Serzh Sargsyan organized a scheme where, at the instigation of Barsegh Beglaryan and with the assistance of Samvel Galstyan and Gevorg Harutyunyan, Sergo Karapetyan misappropriated about half a billion drams intended for 15 million liters of fuel from the state budget.

Barsegh Beglaryan has arrived in the courtroom. A short time ago, one of the witnesses in the case, Arsen Armenaki Harutyunyan, the former director of ‘Max Reklam’ company, confused Barsegh Beglaryan's name while answering the judge's clarifying questions. The judge inquired which participants of the hearing the witness recognizes.

“Well, I know the president, I know Beglar Barseghyan. Oh, Barsegh Beglaryan,” said Harutyunyan.
