Strong Earthquake Recorded Near Kamchatka Peninsula: Reports from Russian Scientists

A strong earthquake with a magnitude of approximately 5.8 has been recorded in the Kuril Islands of the Pacific Ocean, located between the islands of Hokkaido and the Kamchatka Peninsula. This information was reported on the website of the Kamchatka branch of the geophysical service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, according to Gazeta.ru.

According to Kamchatka geophysicists, the earthquake occurred at 18:45 Kamchatka time (09:45 Moscow time). The depth of the earthquake was 42 km, with a magnitude of 5.8 noted on the site.

It has been reported that the epicenter of the earthquake is located 189 km away from Severo-Kurilsk.
