Ukrainians Seek to Sever Diplomatic Relations with Iran: New Proposal

Ukrainian parliament member Alexey Goncharenko has submitted a draft resolution to the Verkhovna Rada regarding the severance of diplomatic relations with Iran, reports kommersant.ru.

The lawmakers will also determine whether to classify Iran as a state sponsor of terrorism. "A draft resolution to cease diplomatic relations with Iran and to recognize it as a state that sponsors terrorism has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada," Goncharenko wrote on Telegram.

The parliament member has also urged the Rada to appeal to the UN, the European Parliament, the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, NATO, and other international organizations, as well as the governments of third countries, calling for Iran to be recognized as a "state sponsor of terrorism."

It is noteworthy that today, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on Iranian authorities to stop supplying weapons to Russia, which are being used in the ongoing war. The statement was published on the official website of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, both Russia and Iran deny the claims regarding the sale of Iranian drones.
