VIDEO. "In the Peace Agreement, in my opinion, it should not state that Artsakh will not be part of Azerbaijan" - Simonian
Today, the President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, discussed the likelihood of signing a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan with reporters, and the potential mention of the status of Artsakh within it.
According to Simonian, “I do not think there should be such a mention, because it could primarily provoke a mirror demand and desire. Second, Armenia has never had territorial claims over Azerbaijan, and emphasizing territories will only complicate and may even nullify the potential signed agreement. Personally, I believe this should not be done.”
When asked what would happen to the issue of Artsakh, he responded, “We propose to Artsakh that it should independently be involved and is involved in all discussions, while Armenia should be maximally engaged in those conversations, because there has been an option where Armenia and Artsakh were considered separately; we have not gone with that option.”
