Armenia's Economy Relies on the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant, Rafael Mariano Grossi States Support Will Continue
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, has positively assessed the safety reforms implemented at the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant. He made this statement on his Twitter account.
“Armenia's economy relies on the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant, and the IAEA will continue to offer its support to help the plant supply low-carbon energy in a safe and secure manner. I am pleased to see the safety reforms made in Metsamor, and I am impressed by the commitment of its dedicated staff,” he wrote.
Rafael Mariano Grossi arrived in Armenia on October 4-5 at the invitation of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. During the visit, he has already met with the President, Prime Minister, and Minister of Health of Armenia. A lecture by Grossi is expected at Yerevan State University on October 5.
