Putin Unable to Announce Military Successes at Parade: What UK Ministry of Defence Has Stated
Russia's underestimation of Ukraine's resistance and planning for a "best-case scenario" has led to evident operational failures. This prevented Putin from announcing significant military successes in Ukraine during the Victory Day parade on May 9. This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defence on its Twitter page.
"It is highly likely that Russia's invasion plan was based on the false assumption that it would face limited resistance and could quickly encircle and bypass populated areas," the statement read.
This assumption prompted Russian forces to attempt to enact the initial phase of operations with an easy and precise approach, aiming for rapid victory at minimal cost.
"This miscalculation has resulted in enormous losses and a subsequent weakening of Russia's operational focus," the UK Ministry of Defence noted.
