If Ukraine Does Not Obtain EU Candidate Status, Then Europe is Deceiving Kyiv: Kuleba
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has stated that if Ukraine does not receive European Union candidate status, it would mean that "Europe is trying to deceive" Kyiv, and Ukraine will not tolerate this. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky had announced that Kyiv had submitted the completed second part of the questionnaire for obtaining candidate status for EU membership, and hopes to receive a response regarding Ukraine's candidacy status in June.
"If we do not get candidate status, it will only mean one thing - Europe is trying to deceive us. And we are not going to tolerate that," Kuleba declared in an interview with the Financial Times.
Commenting on French President Emmanuel Macron's prediction that the EU accession process for Ukraine could take several years, even decades, Kuleba emphasized that the most important thing for Ukraine is to receive candidate status in June, after which it will be possible to "resolve the remaining issues - how, when, and so on."
"Three months ago, this country didn't even have a prospect of membership. And now they are discussing how long it will take," Kuleba added.
It is noteworthy that Zelensky signed the application for Ukraine's EU membership on February 28.
