Father and Son Assault Ambulance Doctor and Driver; The Son Also Attacks Arriving Police

The Investigation Committee of Armenia is conducting an inquiry to clarify the circumstances of a case involving hooliganism and violence against representatives of authority by residents of Meghradzor.

According to the Committee, preliminary information indicates that on April 30, 2022, at 20:50, a group of individuals engaged in a dispute with the medical staff and the on-duty doctor of the "Hrazdan Medical Center" about transporting their unwell relative to Yerevan. During this altercation, a father and son from Meghradzor displayed blatant disrespect towards the public, disrupted the normal operations of the hospital, destroyed hospital property, and shouted insults.

The father struck the driver of the ambulance, while the son inflicted injuries on the doctor. Subsequently, when officers from the Armenian police arrived at the scene and demanded the cessation of unlawful actions, the son refused to comply with their legal requests and got into an argument with them, during which he struck and injured two officers from the Hrazdan division of the Kotayk regional police.

One of the residents of Meghradzor, the son, has been arrested, while the father has been assigned a bail condition to not leave the area. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
