It is currently difficult for France to give up Russian gas, says Macron
Against the backdrop of the special operation in Ukraine, it is currently difficult for France to give up Russian gas. This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron in an interview with Ouest France, as reported by RTVI.
At the same time, he noted that the French authorities are already looking for alternatives to Russian resources. "If we make a decision regarding sanctions, or if Russia decides to impose counter-sanctions on hydrocarbons, especially gas, it is clear that Europeans need to ask all family members to prepare," said Macron.
He also pointed out that gas supplies will be sufficient for some time if an embargo on Russian energy resources were imposed right now. However, he cautioned that supplies might run out before winter, the French president added.
