Armenia Makes Payments for Russian Gas in Rubles, Says Kerobyan to RBK
Armenia makes payments for Russian gas in rubles, the country’s Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan revealed in an interview with RBK.
“We need to move towards national currencies. There has been progress on this front from the Russian side. As far as I know, the last several payments have been made in rubles, but at the corresponding exchange rate,” said Kerobyan.
In turn, Sergey Kupriyanov, a spokesperson for Gazprom, confirmed to the media that the contract between the Russian energy company and Armenia allows for payments in rubles for several years of gas delivery.
“This option is being utilized,” he stated.
