Sometimes He Asks for More Than Can Be Given: French Presidential Candidate on Zelensky
The French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen believes that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is asking for more from Western countries than they are capable of giving. “Zelensky wants more and more assistance. Sometimes he asks for more than can be given,” Le Pen stated on the France 2 television channel on April 14.
In response to a question from the host, she expressed her opposition to the use of the term “genocide” regarding the events in Ukraine. “Genocide has a very specific legal definition, and it does not correspond to the situation,” Le Pen said.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron disagreed with U.S. President Joe Biden’s assertion that what is happening in Ukraine seems to him to be “genocide.” The French leader called for “caution in the use of terms.”
At the same time, Le Pen emphasized that she does not believe in the possibility of Russia's isolation on the international stage. “That is a great illusion,” she remarked, adding that she advocates for the restoration of NATO-Russia contacts following the conclusion of the Ukrainian conflict.
“I believe that the West will lose if, in the long term, Russia opts for cooperation with China,” said the presidential candidate. She noted that if elected, her foreign policy would be guided by the principles of “independence, parity, and sustainability.” The second round of the presidential elections in France will take place on April 24, with Le Pen facing off against the current president Emmanuel Macron, TASS reported.
