Marine Le Pen States She Accepts Crimea Referendum Results
French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen has declared that she still considers Crimea to be Russian and has no regrets about being banned from visiting Ukraine. She made these remarks during an interview with BFM, as reported by RT.
“I have no regrets at all, as the decision regarding Crimea’s status was made following a referendum,” Le Pen stated. This was her response to a question about being added to Ukraine's list of unwanted persons.
In 2017, Le Pen also stated that if she won the French presidential elections, she would recognize Crimea as part of Russia. According to her, “the ownership of Crimea by Ukraine was merely an administrative issue from the Soviet era; the peninsula has never been Ukrainian.”
