Turkey Forcefully Deports Syrian Refugees: What is the Reason?
Syrian refugees being deported from Turkey to Idlib are facing financial losses as they are forced to forfeit their jobs and income. This was reported by ErmeniHaber.
The Turkish authorities are deporting every Syrian who lacks identity documents or who is unable to renew them. In the month of March alone, 1,321 Syrian refugees have already been expelled from the country. More than 100 individuals have also been deported from the Aleppo region.
According to Turkish authorities, there are currently around 4 million Syrian refugees living in Turkey. The Directorate General of Migration Management issues identification certificates to Syrian refugees, granting them the right to move freely within Turkey and access all public services.
Mohammed Aslan, a 45-year-old human rights advocate, stated that the actions of the Turkish police against Syrians are illegal and contradict the principles of refugee protection. “Syrian refugees in Turkey are subjected to racist treatment and persecution,” Aslan said, asserting that a Syrian Human Rights Committee should be established to prevent abuses against Syrians and to halt their forced displacement.
