Video: Armenia Responds to Azerbaijan's Proposals, Prime Minister
The Republic of Armenia has responded to the five-point proposal conveyed by Azerbaijan both publicly and through diplomatic channels. The claim made by Baku that Armenia has left the proposals unanswered is completely untrue.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a government meeting.
"Perhaps the most exploited topic by Azerbaijan to provoke regional escalation is the issue of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan continues to assert that the Republic of Armenia has left this issue unanswered. However, this information is completely false, as I have repeatedly expressed publicly Armenia's willingness to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan. Yet, it has come to the point where Azerbaijan continues to declare today that it has conveyed a five-point proposal to Armenia, but we have allegedly left those proposals unanswered. In the previous government meeting, I addressed this issue in detail in a live broadcast, and noted that on March 10, Azerbaijan transmitted its five-point proposal to the Republic of Armenia, and we responded in writing on March 14, that is, four days later, of which two were non-working days. We conveyed our response through the same channels we received it: it was transmitted to us by the co-chairing country of the OSCE Minsk Group, and we submitted our response through the co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group. We have also publicly stated that there is nothing unacceptable in Azerbaijan's proposals. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia stated on March 21, 2022: (I quote) 'There is nothing unacceptable for us in the proposals conveyed by Azerbaijan on March 10. The other thing is that these proposals do not address all the issues on the comprehensive peace agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In our response submitted to the OSCE Minsk Group, we have filled in the agenda, and therefore, on that basis, we are ready to start peace negotiations' (end of quote)," emphasized Pashinyan.
The country leader underlined that this is Armenia’s official stance and that the Republic of Armenia has responded to Azerbaijan's five-point proposal both publicly and through diplomatic channels.
"This response means that the principle of mutual recognition of territorial integrity and inviolability of borders is acceptable to Armenia," Pashinyan concluded.
