What Affects Europe's Peace: Statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry Representative
Moscow hopes that Berlin will understand the futility of "burning bridges," as the peace of the continent depends on the relationship between the two countries. This statement was made by Oleg Tyapkin, director of the Third European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“We hope that ultimately common sense will prevail, and Berlin will recognize the futility of ‘burning bridges.’ After all, ‘tomorrow is certainly coming the day after,’” said Tyapkin. According to him, “despite the current sharpness of disagreements, Russia and Germany will remain neighbors in Europe, and their relationships will determine the peace and prosperity of Europe,” RIA Novosti reported.
