Turkish-French Crisis Intensifies Again: Turkey Files Lawsuit Against "Charlie Hebdo" Magazine

Relations between Ankara and Paris are once again deteriorating after several months of relative calm, reports Ermenihaber. On March 26, the Republic Chief Prosecutor's Office in Ankara filed a lawsuit against representatives of the "Charlie Hebdo" magazine for "insulting the President of Turkey." The prosecution has prepared an indictment against four representatives of the magazine in connection with the publication of a photo that belittles President Erdoğan.

In the autumn of 2020, amid the backdrop of the Turkish-French crisis and tensions between France and several Muslim countries, "Charlie Hebdo" published another scandalous caricature, which was condemned by Turkish authorities shortly thereafter. The caricature featuring President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was published in the October 28 issue of "Charlie Hebdo."
