Strong Earthquake Felt; Residents Evacuate to Streets, Says Mayor
A strong earthquake measuring 6-7 on the Richter scale was recorded in the Shoghakath (Shorja) community of Gegharkunik Province, but no significant damage has been reported. Mayor Suliko Shushanyan stated during a conversation with NEWS.am.
“The most dangerous was our school, as it is in a precarious state, but it hasn’t collapsed. There is no major destruction, although there are fallen walls. Electricity has been restored,” he mentioned.
The mayor added that residents are currently outside. “It was felt quite strongly; the intensity was notable. During the night, we didn’t see any serious issues,” he concluded.
