Ukraine Blocks Over $23 Million from Individuals Suspected of Treason
Ukraine’s State Financial Monitoring Service has reported that in the first quarter of 2022, it blocked more than 687 million hryvnias (approximately $23.2 million) belonging to individuals suspected of treason.
“The primary function of the State Financial Monitoring Service is to identify individuals who may be connected to the military aggression of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus against Ukraine, including subversive and reconnaissance groups. In the first quarter of 2022, the State Financial Monitoring Service sent 14 materials to law enforcement agencies regarding the financial transactions of 83 individuals, who are reasonably suspected of being traitors and may be involved in the military aggression of the Russian Federation,” the statement said.
It was noted that during these financial investigations, the service has suspended (blocked) funds totaling 687.4 million hryvnias.
