Karen Demirchyan to Have a Monument
A subsidy of 3 million 281 thousand drams has been allocated to the community of Yerevan from the reserve fund of the Government of the Republic of Armenia for the design work of the monument to Karen Demirchyan. It was noted that according to the preliminary estimate of sculptor Sarkis Babayan, approximately 54.2 million drams will also be required for the installation of the statue. This was announced by Andranik Sedoyan, the acting head of the specialized programs division of the City Architecture Department of Yerevan City Hall, during a session of the city council.
The statue will be erected in the area of the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, in the open space between the staircase leading to the complex and Leningradyan Street. According to the decision of the council, in the April 30, 2014 decision of the Yerevan City Council on 'Granting Approval for the Installation of a Monument in Memory of Karen Demirchyan,' the wording 'in the park located between buildings 15 and 17 on Mashtots Street, adjacent to M. Mashtots Avenue' has been replaced with the words 'in the area of the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, in the open space between the staircase leading to the complex and Leningradyan Street.'
