UK Prepares for New Heatwave as Temperatures Set to Reach 36°C

Temperatures in the UK are expected to rise next week, with some areas experiencing highs of up to 36°C. According to the UK Met Office forecasts, the warm weather will cover most of England and Wales, as reported by Express.

The highest temperatures are anticipated on August 13. Eastern England and the southeastern part of the country could see temperatures soar to 36°C, while in 27 counties, thermometers are expected to exceed the 30°C mark.

Mike Silvester, the deputy chief meteorologist at the Met Office, indicated that the warm weather will start over the weekend, with a more significant increase expected in the middle of next week. After a brief cool down on Monday, a high-pressure system will move over eastern Britain, leading to a southern airflow.

“A substantial area of heat is likely to develop across much of England and Wales,” Silvester noted. He stated that maximum temperatures are expected to be recorded on Wednesday, August 12, across most parts of England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland.

In central and southern England, as well as southeast Wales, temperatures could rise to 34°C. The intense heat in eastern England and the southeast will peak on Thursday, August 13, reaching up to 36°C. Meanwhile, humidity levels will increase during the week, potentially making nighttime conditions particularly uncomfortable.

The Met Office's long-range forecast for August 12-21 anticipates rain, heavy showers, and strong winds in the northern parts of the country at the beginning of the period. In contrast, the south will experience predominantly dry, sunny, and hot weather, with some areas feeling very hot. A slight cool down is possible in the southern regions over the next weekend.

Temperatures exceeding 30°C are anticipated in 27 counties in England.
