Embezzlement of 87 Million Drams from Schools: Accountant, His Wife, and Directors Face Charges

The Anti-Corruption Committee has revealed that a person holding the position of an accountant in a school in Artik has embezzled a particularly large amount of money using his official duties. This information has been confirmed by the Anti-Corruption Committee.

Specifically, the investigation found that the aforementioned official failed to include the income tax and mandatory contributions of certain employees in the monthly reports. By submitting false information regarding the transfer of funds from the school's accounts to himself and individuals who are not employees, disguised as salary or debt return, with the aid of two persons, he embezzled around 55 million drams.

Additionally, the aforementioned official, who also served as the person responsible for procurement and coordinator at Harich Secondary School, subsequently taking up the position of accountant, colluded with his wife, the accountant of the same school, and with the assistance of another citizen, to embezzle 33 million drams that had been withdrawn from the school.

As a result of their criminal actions, the state suffered property damage exceeding 87 million drams, of which 43 million drams have been recovered.

During the investigation, charges were filed against the individual occupying the accountant position in the two schools, his wife, the assisting individual in the criminal acts, and the school directors. The investigation has concluded, and the case materials have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court with an accusatory conclusion.
