One Attack on One is an Attack on All: Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia Forming New Alliance
According to Turkey's president, the trilateral defense agreement signed with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan is not directed against any country. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, commenting on the document signed in Saudi Arabia on August 7, stated that it is based on collective deterrence and will contribute to enhancing cooperation in the fields of defense and security, developing joint programs in the defense industry, and combating terrorism.
The Turkish leader also emphasized that this agreement is not aimed at any state and is open to all countries aspiring to regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
In turn, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar noted that the signed document is a key step toward expanding strategic cooperation and further strengthening the existing fraternal ties between the peoples of those states.
The “Makkah Agreement” signed between Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia is being referred to in the media as a “Muslim NATO.” According to circulated information, a key provision of the document is the collective defense clause, which states that any armed attack against one of the parties will be considered an attack against all participants.
