BREAKING: Simon Martirosyan Becomes World Champion
In the ongoing World Weightlifting Championship in Thailand, Armenian weightlifter Simon Martirosyan has become the second Armenian athlete to win the world title today.
In the 109 kg weight category, Martirosyan had no equal. He successfully executed all of his attempts in the snatch event (190 kg, 195 kg, 199 kg) and claimed a gold medal in that category.
He outperformed the Belarusian lifter by one kilogram and the Chinese athlete by two kilograms. In the clean and jerk event, Simon's advantage was clear. He approached the barbell after all other lifters had completed their performances.
In his first attempt, Simon lifted 230 kg, which was sufficient for him to become champion and win three gold medals.
