The Fine Against Eric Gasparyan's Mother for 15,000 Drams Has Been Revoked
The Yerevan City Hall has nullified the administrative penalty issued against the mother of Eric Gasparyan, a participant in the 44-day war and a first-degree disabled veteran due to injuries sustained during the conflict. This was announced by attorney Lusine Martirosyan.
It was reported days earlier that a fine of 15,000 drams was imposed on Lusine Gasparyan for allegedly failing to pay for public transportation. According to published information, she had previously been issued a free travel card by the city hall and the administrative region to enable her to visit the 'Soldier's Home,' where her son is receiving treatment.
The incident received considerable attention on social media, with calls to rescind the administrative act. Subsequently, attorney Lusine Martirosyan reported that the city hall informed her that the fine had been revoked.
The spokesperson for the Mayor of Yerevan, Artyom Karapetyan, later clarified that under current regulations, the exemption for free public transport is granted specifically to the person with a disability and does not extend to accompanying individuals or family members. The city hall also indicated that a proposal is under consideration to allow, in certain cases, discounted or free travel for aides, companions, or family members of individuals with disabilities.
