The Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia, Arpine Sargsyan, has held a discussion at the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. During the meeting, the minister announced a reassessment of the procedures for granting and terminating Armenian citizenship.
"We are reassessing the procedures for granting and terminating citizenship and aiming to introduce a new logic in the state-citizen relationship. This understanding is the core around which we will build all remaining solutions, as we believe that the state-citizen relationship must take on a new quality," said Arpine Sargsyan.
The minister also emphasized that in the context of reassessing the state-citizen relationship, the residency requirement will become mandatory, along with several other changes.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan had stated that they would soon propose legislative initiatives to address the procedures for granting or terminating citizenship in Armenia.
