Poland Does Not Want to Deploy Nuclear Weapons on Its Territory

Poland does not wish to deploy nuclear weapons on its territory. This was stated to reporters by Deputy Minister of National Defence Pawel Zalewski following negotiations with Pentagon Deputy Secretary Elbridge Colby.

“No. I want to make this very clear and open. Poland does not want to have nuclear warheads on its territory,” said Zalewski.

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that Warsaw aims to achieve greater autonomy regarding nuclear weapons and is negotiating with France on a nuclear deterrence program.

Polish President Karol Nawrocki, in turn, declared support for the country joining a nuclear project. According to him, Poland should move towards developing its own nuclear capabilities while adhering to all international norms.
