494 Not Sober Drivers Detected in Just One Week - Ministry of Internal Affairs Publishes Statistics
From August 17 to 24, police in Yerevan and the regions detected a total of 22,752 violations of traffic rules. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia.
During the week, 494 not sober drivers were identified across the country. Additionally, 561 individuals were found driving without a valid driver's license.
In Yerevan, police recorded 5,095 violations, and 139 vehicles were moved to a special detention area. Within the capital, there were 182 not sober drivers, and 141 individuals were driving without a valid driver's license.
The recorded violations in Yerevan also included 973 cases of not wearing seatbelts, 707 instances of smoking while driving, 292 cases of using a phone while driving, 48 instances of transporting a child without a child seat, and 38 violations related to license plates.
Additionally, 24 vehicles were operated without a mandatory insurance policy, 87 without technical inspection, and another 87 had malfunctioning lights. 36 vehicles were found to have tinted windshields or side windows.
In the regions, during the same time period, there were 17,657 violations recorded with 227 vehicles moved to special detention areas. A total of 312 not sober drivers were identified, while 420 individuals were found driving without a valid driver’s license.
In the regions, there were 2,973 cases of speeding, 4,738 instances of not wearing seatbelts, 721 cases of using a phone while driving, 713 instances of smoking while driving, and 350 cases of transporting a child without a child seat. Moreover, 100 vehicles were operated without mandatory insurance, 739 without technical inspection, and 528 had malfunctioning lights.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during the week, a total of 157 individuals were arrested on various suspicions and transferred to the Community Police departments.
