The former Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, who announced last week that he was under pressure from the "Georgian Dream" team, has been charged with corruption.

Local media reports that the charges relate to "the acceptance of a particularly large bribe by a group of individuals acting in collusion." According to the Deputy Prosecutor General of Georgia, Amiran Guluashvili, testimony in the new case has been provided by former Defense Minister Junashir Burchuladze, who is currently in custody.

Additionally, in July, Vasili Mkheidze, Burchuladze's brother-in-law, approached the prosecutor's office to cooperate with the investigation and provided "comprehensive information." It is reported that Garibashvili faces a potential prison sentence of 11 to 15 years.

Previously, he was arrested on charges of illegal money laundering and was sentenced to five years in prison.
