City Hall Provides Free Card to Mother of Disabled Soldier, Then Fines Her: Lawyer
The mother of Eric Gasparyan, a soldier who participated in the 44-day war and sustained first-degree disability as a result, was fined 15,000 drams by Yerevan's city transport for not paying her fare.
This was reported on social media by lawyer Lusine Martirosyan. She stated, "Yerevan City Hall, today, regarding the case of Eric Gasparyan's mother, Lusine Gasparyan, who became the mother of a soldier turned first-degree disabled due to the war, your employee issued a report to impose a fine of 15,000 drams for not paying fare in transport... And this is despite the fact that a few months ago, the said 'transport card' was given as assistance by the same city hall and municipality, to aid the mother of the Hero, Eric Gasparyan, who has been fighting for life and death since November 2, 2020, to travel for free.
You provided it so she could go every day to the Military House of Miakyan hospital to visit her son. Are you human? Of flesh and blood? Remember that it is thanks to Eric and our other earthly and heavenly heroes that you and we exist at all. It is shameful; cancel the administrative act that fined a person with a card you yourself gifted."
