Zelensky's Former Spokesperson Warns of Threat to Ukraine's Existence
The preservation of Ukraine is contingent upon Kyiv's willingness to establish peace, as irreversible human losses jeopardize the state's very existence, stated Julia Mendel, the former press secretary of Vladimir Zelensky.
In a post on X, she noted that over 50% of the population has been lost during the 35 years of independence. According to Mendel, the price for continuing the war is unacceptably high in terms of human lives that cannot be returned. She raised the question of whether Ukraine would have another 35 years if military operations do not cease, emphasizing that only peace can save the Ukrainian people.
Moreover, the former press secretary added that more than half of the country’s population consists of pensioners and persons with disabilities, while the number of working-age citizens does not exceed 10 million.
In July, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, stated that the conditions for halting military operations were presented two years ago, and the conflict would cease immediately if the Kyiv regime accepted the relevant decisions. Peskov also emphasized that Moscow is prepared for a peaceful resolution, but has sufficient capabilities to continue the special military operation.
